The biggest surprise in my trip to Belgium was the city of Ghent.
I arrived there with no idea about this place and I discovered an amazing historic town, with incredible buildings, rivers and streets.
Ghent is a very flat place so a lot of people use bikes as a mean of transportation, and in fact, the best way to discover the city is by bike. You can rent a bike at your hostel or you will also find some businesses for this.
The downtown is the most beautiful area. The most interesting places are:
- St. Bavo's Cathedral
- Het Belfort
- Saint Nicolas Church
- Lys River and its houses
- The Gravensteen castle
